Windows 8 Release Preview leaked prior to official debut

. Microsoft announced that its Windows 8 Release Preview will be available during the first week of June, possibly after the company's Computex keynote on June 6th. A Chinese edition of the Release Preview, however, has been circulating around the Web prior to the software's official debut. The build reportedly includes new Metro-style Sports, Travel, and News apps, along with an updated boot screen, cursors, wallpapers and multiple monitor desktop improvements. Microsoft's latest operating system is rumored to launch in October in three different versions, Windows 8, Windows 8 Pro and Windows RT.

Design language is a tricky thing. Err too much on one side and nobody will recognize your cars. Fall on the other and all your cars will look the same. Aston Martin, you might say, emerges more on the latter side than the former. Which isn't to say that we don't like how their high-end GTs look, mind you. Starting last fall, eight carmakers worked with the Department of Transportation on a study assessing drivers' acceptance of accident-avoidance technologies. The initial six-month program in the Connected Vehicle Safety Pilot Program put people on closed roads in cars that communicated wirelessly to issue warnings about lane changes, blind spots, forward collisions and other cars approaching intersections. Of the 688 participants, more than 90 percent wanted the tech in their cars, and that response rate covered just about all age ranges.

Kaspersky: Apple not serious enough about iOS security

With its closed ecosystem, you would think Apple takes protecting the iPad, iPhone and iPod from malware seriously. Well, IT take note: Endpoint security for iOS is, apparently, not an important enough part of Apple's agenda for its juggernaut of a mobile device platform - at least according to Eugene Kaspersky, CEO of the well-known security company that bears his name. Speaking with The Register, Kaspersky spoke of how he's a "little bit disappointed" the Apple SDK does not allow anti-virus vendors like his company provide the type of software necessary to fully protect iOS products from malware.
