Nokia Lumia 521 and LG Optimus F3 out at MetroPCS today

Nokia Lumia 521 and LG Optimus F3 out at MetroPCS today

MetroPCS is introducing two new smartphones to its roster today. The carrier, now owned by T-Mobile, will make both the Nokia Lumia 521 (its first Windows Phone 8 handset) and the LG Optimus F3 available in the next few hours. Neither device is yet featured on the MetroPCS website, but that should happen soon too. The Lumia 521 is already being offered by T-Mobile, and for a few months it's been the cheapest Windows Phone 8 device in the US. At MetroPCS, you'll be able to get one for just $99. That's without contract, by the way, and it's $50 lower than the launch price for the same phone over at the magenta carrier.

Q2 2013: Samsung distances itself from Apple in the smartphone market share race

Global smartphone sales continue to surge in 2013, reaching a record high of 237.9 million units shipped in the second quarter (April - June). Samsung is the incontestable leader, itself breaking a new record by shipping 72.4 million smartphones in Q2 (30.4% market share), the vast majority of them running Android. It's a slight growth compared to Q1 2013 (when 70.7 million Samsung smartphones were shipped).
Meanwhile, Apple's iPhone shipments have reached 31.2 million units in Q2 (13.1% market share) - considerably less than the 37.4 million units shipped in Q1.

Hasbro Launches New Monopoly That Can Be Played In Under 30 Minutes

Hasbro Launches New Monopoly That Can Be Played In Under 30 Minutes

One of the biggest gripes I have with Monopoly these days is that I don't want to spend half of my day to dedicate my life to a game where I make believe I am a business tycoon when the only reason why I end up winning is based on pure luck. At thirty-one years old, I'm sure children, teens and young adults have even less time to spend on Monopoly, which is why Hasbro has launched a new version of the game that is said to take a total of 30 minutes to complete, called Monopoly Empire.

Sony PS4 Dev Kits Handed Out 'Like Candy'

Sony PS4 Dev Kits Handed Out 'Like Candy'

So, the Sony PS4 has already made it past the FCC as it is being prepared for a release later at the end of this year, but here we are with word from sources who prefer to remain anonymous, that Sony is handing out its PS4 development kits (dev kits for short) like candy, even though that these dev kits do not come cheap at approximately $2,500 a pop. Sony is said to be lending out these dev kits without charging developers at all, and it does seem to be a win-win situation.
