Expected to be released in Europe and North America really soon, the Motorola RAZR (known as the Droid RAZR in the US) will reportedly become available to Indian customers, too, as soon as next week. According to The Times of India, Motorola India intends to launch the RAZR sometime next week for about 32,000 INR ($646). Production 2012 CR-V revealed by JDM Honda website

The North American-spec 2012 Honda CR-V won't officially debut until the Los Angeles Auto Show in just a couple of weeks, but thanks to the automaker's own Japanese website, we're now getting our first glimpse at the production version of the new crossover – at least the JDM version, which isn't expected to differ much. Honda previously teased us with a shot of a CR-V Concept, which, flashy as it may have been, gave us a good idea of exactly what the final design would look like.

Are you the next Saab 9-3?

Are you the next Saab 9-3?

Assuming the Chinese government approves the sale of Saab to the Pang Da and Youngman companies (a very big "if," truth be told), the Swedish automaker could indeed have a bright future. in time. With the new 9-5 and 9-4X not in need of any dire updates just yet, it'd be smart for Saab to focus on reworking its biggest volume offering, the aged 9-3. And judging by this sketch found on Swedish site Svd.se, the next 9-3 (likely called "Ninety-Three") could be quite a rakish yet practical entry into the entry-level luxury segment.

Engine notes are a funny thing. They don't add anything to a car's performance capabilities. They don't improve emissions or lower fuel consumption. They don't contribute to ride quality or overall refinement – in fact you could argue just the opposite, at least indirectly. Yet automakers spend a great deal of time and resources to ensure their cars sound just right.
Few engines emit the kind of throaty, raspy burble that a V8 crafted by AMG does. The Mercedes-Benz performance division just makes some of the best sounding engines around.

Explosives detectors printed with inkjet printers

Explosives detectors printed with inkjet printers

Explosives detectors usually do not come on the cheap side, but yet there is an increasing need for such devices, whether it be at the airport or on the battle field or used by police officers during their patrol. Unfortunately the downside to such equipment is that even though they have the potential to save many lives, they do not come cheap and are often difficult to manufacturer, at least until a team of researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology tried their hand at it.

Sprint now blocks tethering apps on the Android Market

If you thought that Sprint had no problem with its users installing tethering apps on their phones, it looks like times have changed. A few months ago, AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon blocked their users from downloading tethering apps via the Android Market, leaving Sprint as the only carrier without the restriction. But recently, a number of Sprint subscribers noticed that the carrier has finally put the restrictions in place. While the apps still work now (which, by the way, are still sideloadable onto your Android phones) nobody knows for how long.

It's Official: HP is keeping its PC division

Thursday HP finally ended the drama over its PC division (aka Personal Systems Group or PSG) which began during the summer with the announcement of a possible spin-off or outright sale. According to the company, the unit will remain as part of the HP collective — it won't be sold or spun-off into a separate company. “HP objectively evaluated the strategic, financial and operational impact of spinning off PSG. It's clear after our analysis that keeping PSG within HP is right for customers and partners, right for shareholders, and right for employees,” said Meg Whitman, HP president and chief executive officer.

In fact, HP will use Windows 8 instead of the defunct webOS going forward, but it's still unclear whether the company plans to retain the “TouchPad” branding, or go with something else. “I think we need to be in the tablet business and we're certainly going to be there with Windows 8,” she said.

With the use of the iPad's multi-touch capability and a cylindrical mirror, the research group at the Ochanomizu Women's University has managed to come up with a pretty cool all-round display capable of creating mirror optical illusions. By using the iPad to project 2D visuals onto the cylindrical mirror they managed to create the illusion of a 3D object that can be rotated with the mirror. This technology, called Anamorphicons (a portmanteau of anamorphosis and icon) gives users a full 360 degree view of the object that's shown on the iPad's display.
