HTC One review - One phone to rule them all

HTC One review - One phone to rule them all

After months of rumors, leaked pictures, decoy designs and delays, the HTC One has finally arrived. The phone went on sale in a handful of European countries in mid-March, but those of us in the US market had to wait until late April to get our hands on HTC's newest flagship Android phone. To say that the HTC One is a special phone is a dramatic understatement. Not only does the device feature an incredible array of internal specifications and a spectacular design, but it carries the burden of being the One phone which could determine the fate of HTC.

Atheer Labs unveils 3D augmented reality mobile platform and a natural human UI (hands-on)

The UI is sort of a cross between Kinect and Leap Motion, and is unique in that it's a natural, direct form of interacting with software elements displayed in three dimensions. In practice, this means that to interact with a displayed object, a user actually reaches out and 'touches' that object in space instead of manipulating it via gestures. Itani explains the approach thusly: "it's like the difference between using a mouse and a touchscreen on a regular computer.

White Nexus 4 officially unveiled, LG says it isn't making the Nexus 5

The white Nexus 4 has been spotted at nearly every corner of the globe even since before the device was initially available. We've seen it in tons of pictures and promo shots, and it even popped up at a couple of trade shows, but it evaded the release calendar for quite some time without a peep from Google or LG about its existence. Well, we can finally stop chasing this crazy rumor as it has become official: the White Nexus 4 is on its way. LG mentions the device will roll out first in Hong Kong tomorrow, May 29th, with launches in Europe, North America and the rest of Asia taking place over the next several weeks.

2013's Top 4 Robot Short Films. Japan's yearly Golden Week, a 10-day stretch of spring garnished with national holidays, tends to shut down almost every industry save tourism & travel. Of course this includes J-robotics movers and shakers, so in this week's feature we're going straight-up international fiction and presenting 2013's best robot-related short flicks to date. This narrow window of but 4 months gives us a nice, fresh selection, but there's definitely a huge pile of noteworthy pre-2013 robo-centric shorts out there.

New Galaxy Note 3 rumors suggest 13 MP zoom camera and Snapdragon 800

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 has been rumored for quite some time now. I think we all agree Samsung would be foolish not to release a third edition of this phone in a hotly contested market (that Samsung created, to its credit). Until now, the most we've heard regarding the oversized Android phone was that it could come in with at least 5.8 inches of HD display goodness and that it might come to market with a metal chassis (though latest rumors suggest Samsung decided to continue with the tried and true plastic). Now, we're getting a few more details about the camera itself.

Race Recap: For the 2013 Monaco Grand Prix, NASCAR comes to the principality

Lots of contact, debris cautions, trips into the wall, full-course yellows and a red flag – these are the kinds of racing terms you unbox when you want to have a conversation about NASCAR. or the Formula One grand prix of Monaco. In this case we're not talking about the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, we're talking about 78 laps in the South of France that even featured a fallen camera cable just like that stock-car race. When Nico Rosberg claimed pole position for the Monaco Grand Prix, it meant Mercedes-AMG had taken the number one spot in the last four races, and it's Rosberg that's claimed the last three of those.

Philips Norelco Multigroom Pro review

Philips Norelco Multigroom Pro review

I shave my face daily and the top of my head weekly. That is about it when it comes to personal grooming (although my wife might argue that my ear hair should be attended to more often). Add in the fact that occasionally I have to be away on travel for extended periods of time, sometimes to the absolute middle of no where, a battery-operated, Swiss Army knife-type of razor/grooming device sure could come in handy. Fortunately, Philips has recently released the Norelco Multigroom Pro that is just that an all-in-one head to toe grooming kit.

VW builds 250,000th Passat in Chattanooga in just two years

VW builds 250,000th Passat in Chattanooga in just two years

It hasn't been without incident or union organizing drive, but the Volkswagen plant in Chattanooga, TN has built its 250,000 Passat in just a little over two years. The Night Blue Passat TDI with black leather has come just two years and five weeks after the first customer car came off the line on April 18, 2011. In the last year the plant operated at the 150,000-unit capacity that it was intended for, but the downturn in Passat sales and subsequent worker layoffs mean it will be a challenge to repeat the feat.

While we patiently wait for a full fledged Granny Smith sequel, the boys at Mediocre are first focusing on their original breakout hit, Sprinkle, with the upcoming sequel Sprinkle Islands. We've been following the development on Sprinkle Islands (back when it was simply known as Sprinkle 2) for awhile now. Initially we saw only a few design sketches and barely a screenshot.

Android 4.3 shows up on Nexus 4 in Thailand

Android 4.3 shows up on Nexus 4 in Thailand

A Nexus 4 running build number JWR45B was spotted at the Thailand Mobile Expo recently labeled as Android version 4.3, suggesting the update to the OS could be right around the corner. While the validity of the sighting remains unconfirmed, we do get three shots of what could be the next version of Android: the Jelly Bean easter egg (confirming the update won't be Key Lime Pie), the About Phone screen, and a slightly tweaked camera UI. It appears that Android 4.3 won't come with a major design overhaul in tow and rather will be the sort of incremental update that was the move from 4.1 to 4.2.

Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristband review

Fitbit Flex Wireless Activity + Sleep Wristband review

. Getting fit and staying fit requires daily effort that can quickly turn into drudgery if you lack motivation. I've found several things that have helped me stick to my fitness activities. One is the Virgin Healthmiles program that everyone at my day job (Cummins Inc.) is enrolled in. We get a simple pedometer that counts our steps and we earn points as we go along that can be traded in for cash. Money is always a great motivator right? I'm also lucky that I have a friend at work who practically drags me away from my desk twice a day to take a walk… even when I whine that I don't want to or am too busy.

2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel

2014 Chevrolet Cruze Diesel

Volkswagen has gotten pretty comfortable hogging the – admittedly small – non-premium diesel car market in the US. With Golf and Jetta, the German automaker has been the one and only choice for those interested in the torquey, high-mpg merits of turbocharged diesel power. However, US customers seem to be growing more interested in the technology that has been the primary mode of propulsion in most of Europe for many years now.
