Sauron jealous of all-seeing panorama ball

Sauron jealous of all-seeing panorama ball

You know those cool looking panorama images that you see in print magazines as well as ads from time to time. Well, it seems that taking such shots is going to end up as reality in due time, thanks to this unique ball-shaped camera that was developed by Jonas Pfeil who hails from the Technical University of Berlin, getting help from his colleagues as well. In order to snap a photo, just toss it upwards into mid-air, and it will go around snapping panoramic photos. Makes me wonder whether the same can be said of the Palantirs that Sauron uses – will he get a panoramic view of Middle Earth when he tosses one of these puppies up.

What do people look at on your Facebook profile?

If you've ever wondered what people look at when they visit your profile on social networks like Facebook, we've got some answers for you. The folks over at the EyeTrackShop recently performed an interesting study on a group of 30 participants. Using webcams that were set up to monitor the eye movements of the people in front of the computers, they recorded what each user was looking at every 10 seconds. And judging by the results of the study, there are some interesting things to note.

Digitimes is reporting that Acer, Lenovo and Samsung are planning to go thermo nuclear war against eachother in early 2012 with the release of their own quad-core, Nvidia Tegra 3 powered tablets. The rush for quad-core was sparked by ASUS's upcoming Transformer Prime which will see a release sometime in December. As the world becomes ever-more-saturated in social media, the court of public opinion grows only more sensitive. Retweets can propel an errant thought to meme-like levels of notoriety, while a mismanaged Google+ post can set your circles aflutter. Yes, managing one's online self-expression isn't what it used to be.

Samsung Galaxy Tab No Longer Banned In Australia – Score 1 for the Good Guys

A huge win for Samsung today coming out of “the land down undah” with an Australian court reversing a ban on the sale of the Galaxy Tab 10.1′s across the country. You may remember last month, Apple was actually granted an injunction against Samsung that put a temporary ban on the sale of Galaxy Tab 10.1′s in Australia. It wasn't looking so hot for ‘ol Sammy who would have missed out on the busy holiday shopping season but now, this news could be seen as an early Christmas gift for the Korean manufacturer.

The GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus will undergo “surgery” so to speak, and it does seem to appear as though dismantling this puppy is far simpler than expected compared to some other devices (those from Cupertino tend to come to mind), but it still is not all peaches and cream to begin with. After all, we're talking about it being relatively easier, not just a walk in the park.

Google Wallet is unofficial on the Galaxy Nexus

Google's latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Nexus from Samsung, does not come with Google Wallet, an NFC-based payment service which Google announced to the world just a few months ago. At the moment, Google Wallet is good only for folks living in the US, so it is not out of place to see that Google Wallet is not supported on the HSPA+ capable Galaxy Nexus. Apart from that, Google Wallet will also not see action on Verizon Wireless' version of the smartphone, even if the Galaxy Nexus is going to be made available from the carrier from early next month onwards.

‘Inferior products' to blame for weak HTC sales in Q4, Citigroup says

. HTC cut its fourth-quarter guidance for the second time earlier this week, sending shares of the company's stock to their lowest point in more than a year. The Taiwan-based smartphone vendor cut revenue estimates by roughly 23% for the fourth quarter as steep competition from Samsung, Apple and other companies will seemingly make HTC's run at the top short-lived. But pent up demand for a new iPhone and Samsung's ongoing charge are only half of the equation according to two Citigroup analysts.
